Students will often approach PTL1 as a mental exercise that they can either grind their way through or apply their superior powers of intellect to excel at. It comes as a surprise that neither of these approaches work. The first great hurdle for every PTL1 Student to surmount is the limitation of the intellect. As in life, knowing a great deal is no substitute for experience, personal experimentation, and the ability to express what was uncovered in the process. While the information shared in PTL1 is valuable, that isn’t the real essence of the Course; how this information is applied to an effective Foundation Reading is. This translates to every day life, life beyond Human Design, by recognizing that the beauty in life is not found in the intellectualizing of it. Life isn’t about being clever, smart, or having memorized a bunch of cliché “Do’s” and “Don’ts”. We learn, we become aware, we develop an understanding of life but the true joy in life comes from what surpasses that

Students also bump up against how the various manuals and recordings are also limited. For example, in my design, I carry the Energy of a 2/4 Manifesting Generator under the Right Angle Cross of Laws. The novice will look up each of these designations and share that information straight out of the book. Here’s the problem with that approach; there are thousands and thousands of people with all three of these designations. Human Design is the Science of Differentiation, therefore, running down the list of all this stuff, no matter how extensive, does not provide an effective Foundation Reading. In PTL1, The Student goes beyond merely being able to generically describe the various characteristics found in any BodyGraph and gains the ability to Synthesize the separate elements in to a cohesive whole. This is the art of a Human Design Foundation Reading that is not acquired through the acquisition of more and more information. This translates to life outside of Human Design in being able to allow each situation, person, and moment in life to be unique. By breaking the bondage of reducing life to a series of recognizable and familiar events, life now becomes an array of possibilities presenting themselves as something unknown; even if it is something interacted with daily.  

A PTL1 Student will also confront the daunting task of getting beyond themselves when it comes to speaking of a BodyGraph. The Student surpasses knowledge of the Human Design System and acquires a trust in it; allowing the BodyGraph to do the talking – not them. The truth is, the illustration of the BodyGraph contains a language of such depth, nuance, and sophistication it simply cannot be reduced to a fixed, rigid structure of how to talk about one. To do so limits, invalidates, and deflects the unique glory, beauty, and elegance of each Energy. The Student learns to inspire a trust in the truth of what an Energy is; to recognize how it is designed to interact with the world; to fall in love with the entire process. This translates to everyday life in miraculous ways. The PTL1 Student, very naturally, goes quite deep in to their own design and will witness how their own Not Self Mental Construct has hijacked their genuine nature, arriving at a clearer experience of who they truly are.  

Next Article; Is The Deconditioning Process REALLY 7 Years?: For those who have not experienced a full 7 year cycle in the experiment, it truly can seem like some kind of exaggeration on Ra’s part. Surely prior experience, before Human Design, can reduce the time of deconditioning.
