Gate 6, The Gate of Friction

September 15 - September 20

“Conflict is the beginning of consciousness.”  M Ester Harding

This transit brings us to the emotional center and the energy of friction.

Gate 6 is the gate of our pH. It establishes and maintains the boundary between what’s outside and what’s inside our body.

And perhaps this is where the mystery of conflict begins.

What happens when something or someone crosses a boundary? What happens when what’s outside meets what’s inside?

Friction creates chemistry, and it can bring pleasure or pain. It can draw us closer or create separation. It can expose what we’ve been unwilling to see.

And with the Earth in Gate 36, the energy of Crisis, you may find yourself standing at the edge of the unknown, where emotional experience can become intense, unpredictable, and deeply revealing.

Could the conflict you’re experiencing show you something about your own boundaries?

Instead of believing your issues are taking place somewhere outside, it’s possible that the conflict is an energy arising inside you.

Whatever is repressed ‘in here’ finds expression in the situations you’re caught up in ‘out there.’

This doesn’t mean every conflict is yours to fix. Nor does it mean you should open every boundary.

The experiment is to become aware.

So, what are you allowing in and what are you keeping out?

Where have you lost touch with what’s true for you?

Gate 6 asks you to experience the friction without rushing to resolve it.

Gate 36 reminds you that you can’t always know where an emotional experience will take you. Staying present with the unknown, rather than reacting to the moment’s intensity, may teach you something.

Will you harness the flood of emotions surging through you with emotional awareness and wait until you’re clear before you act?

Are you open to intimacy, vulnerability, and truth in your relationships, while still honoring your own boundaries?

Perhaps conflict isn’t here to be conquered.

Perhaps it’s here to reveal.

After all, opposites turn the wheel.

Through friction, something becomes defined.

Through emotional experience, something becomes known.

And sometimes, what you meet in the mysterious mirror of conflict isn’t the other person at all.

It is YOU.
