Over a period of 40 plus years, I have done a lot of self-awareness work. Everything that I studied is wonderful, amazing, and extremely helpful! These courses of study brought great insight and awareness, but the individual, as an individual, was rarely recognized and empowered as a unique, one of a kind expression. What I found so refreshing about the Human Design System is that the empowerment of the individual, with a unique function and interaction in the world, is the core focus. Provided with an essential description of my Energy, I was encouraged to let my Energy reveal itself to me; no attempt was made to categorize me in to a generalized group with a set of “one size fits all” solutions to life. I must confess that I had a difficult time believing that prior experience wouldn’t accelerate my deconditioning process. Surely it doesn’t take seven flippin’ years for everyone! Yes, it does. It does because what we are talking about is biochemistry, genetic coding, and physics. Being smart, working hard, and putting a great deal of effort in to the process might be “your thing” but, in terms of deconditioning and discovering the Truth of how your Energy works, it doesn’t get you any further down the path.
I zoomed through the Foundation Courses and Professional Training program in 2 ½ years. I, therefore, had a year to experiment and observe what happened for me as I read BodyGraphs for others while still in the deconditioning process. I practiced with several dozen people over that year and, without being too immodest, felt like I did a pretty darn good job with each of them! Later, after becoming a Certified Analyst, many of these folks agreed to have me provide them with an official Full Foundation Reading. The difference was astounding. Without having done much more study over the prior year, I was literally seeing things that I was totally blind to before. The language of BodyGraph was leaping off the page, forming a cohesive, integrated story that surpassed my knowledge. The Keynotes seemed to Synthesize and organize themselves! Many of these Clients would report, “I don’t know what happened over the past year, but this reading was truly amazing! You hit so many aspects of my life that have always been a mystery to me. This was very, very different.” While I cannot identify exactly or precisely what changed in that one year, I can tell you I wasn’t the same person and I certainly was not seeing BodyGraph’s in the same way. In May of 2016, I completed 7 years in my experiment. Since that time, even a brief glance at a BodyGraph will have life dance before my eyes. The entire symphony of the Energy illustrated in those simple geometric shapes and connecting pathways ring in my ears in great depth and detail. I absolutely use the Human Design System in all its mechanics and yet something quite profound comes beyond all of that.
Does it really take seven years to decondition? Yes, it does. It really does. Remain engaged, observant, and experimental in your life. Recognize that your personal conditioning is not bad and wrong; it’s just not you. Who you are exists in a field beyond all of that and the way to get there is simply to follow your Type, Strategy, and Authority to the best of your ability and trust that your Energy will reveal itself to you. Enjoy the process within your own timing.
