As with most things, attempting to teach something is a great way to learn about that very same thing. After several PTL1 Courses (either as an Apprentice Instructor or as the Instructor) I’ve learned that Ra was so very accurate when he continually stated that “the power of Human Design is in the basics; the surface dynamics”. Often interpreted as meaning using generalized characteristics, what I have found instead is that there is such continuity, integrity, and foundational structure to the specific basics for each BodyGraph. By investigating, observing, and experimenting with very essential dynamics such as “Open and Enveloping” or “Closed and Repelling”, a depth of nuance and sophistication comes forth out of these seemingly innocent and simple words. This brings me to the next insight of significance I have revealed for myself; these Keynotes are tricky and multi-layered.
So many of the words used as Keynotes are deceptively common and seemingly obvious; they aren’t. Surely “Struggle and Stubbornness” means, well, struggling in life and being stubborn about it – right? I have this Defined in my Energy and when I mentioned this to my Mom she said, “HA! I could have told you THAT!” The thing is, this isn’t being stubborn and struggling just for the sake of being such. This is an Individualized Energy to stubbornly struggle through the push back that will always come from the Collective and Tribal Energies. The Collective wants everyone to do it the same way; to share a pattern and experience. The Tribe is looking for what sacrifice or loyalty will support the continuation of the Tribe, to the exclusion of all else. What this Energy of Struggle and Stubbornness brings is the pressure to fight for and the awareness to recognize what brings value to life. It’s just not a good idea to assume because one recognizes a word that Ra uses that we completely understand what Energy frequency he is describing. In PTL1, we explore methods for understanding what is meant by these Keynotes both superficially as well as in depth.
Lastly, the other significant learning I gained from being a PTL1 instructor is that the Human Design System, when understood for its logic and simplicity, can be relied upon without exception. The greatest mistake I see non-Professionals make is reducing a BodyGraph to a list of pieces and parts or assuming that the “magic” will show up in the minutia, detail, and oddities. What distinguishes a Professional Analyst from an Amateur is their trust in the Human Design System. Taking something so innocent as “Wait To Be Invited” and specifying that to this BodyGraph; how this Projector Energy will be unique from all others, as well as, how the Not Self Mental Construct will directly and precisely resist this Energetic imperative.
My mantra, especially as a PTL1 Instructor, is “It’s not about the information; it’s what you do withthe information that matters”. A person can be an expert in all things Human Design and be able to quote Ra to specific presentations, recordings, or writings and still not be able to provide an effective Human Design Foundation Reading. Being a great Professional Analyst who can be counted upon to provide effective and empowering Human Design Foundation Readings requires a talent for the art of a Foundation Reading; not the technical information. This is my focus as I lead the PTL1 Course.
