I think the real question is:
Based on my (Human) Design, how can I make a living in a way that feels satisfying, successful, peaceful and also adds the enjoyment of surprise?
I get some variation of that question a lot these days, so I thought I would give you a look at what Human Design can offer you in the Career department. The answer comes from the arena of BG5 Consulting – the Career arm of Human Design.
BG5 can explain so much in terms of business. It’s an amazing tool to help small business leaders understand how they can become more successful both personally as the owner and as a company.
Penta Skills
For any small business of 3-5 individuals to be successful they need all 12 of the skills of the Penta (see pic) or else they lack the proper “ingredients” to function at full capacity. BG5 has the ability to look at an entire small business Penta and accurately tell the owner where she’s going to have problems in her operation.
Personal Career Success
On a personal level BG5 can greatly aid someone looking to:
- Change careers
- Start a business of their own, or
- Become a better leader
A trained BG5 Consultant can help you understand your unique career skills and the setting you would thrive in.
Let me give you an example:
In this chart here, we have a strong defined Emotional Manifesting Generator. This MG is on the lookout for a career that emotionally satisfies her and where she can struggle to find her deeper purpose by transmitting her message to her tribe.
Interesting keynotes, eh? But where and how can she do this particular brand of work that brings her the satisfaction she craves? Let’s look a bit deeper.
Personal Career Setting
Each of us is designed to flourish in certain settings. Usually one setting brings out our skills more than any other.
The four settings consist of working:
- Solo (I.e. freelancer or solopreneur)
- Partnership (working in tandem with a partner)
- Penta (working in a small business/group setting of 3-5 people)
- Larger Organizational Setting (Usually a setting of 9+ individuals. In HD we call this an OC16.)
For our emotional Manifesting Generator, I would point her more towards a larger setting. This gives her the chance to express her creative gifts to bring together a team and educate them on ways to successfully move forward in the business.
Career Material Skills
One of the questions we all have to answer in one form or another is; what makes us unique and employable in the business world?
BG5 is very helpful in answering that question.
For our example client we can see she has a skill to help any business or team develop a vision, find ways to implement that vision and then administer day-to-day operations.
It would be very helpful for her to delegate Planning & Public Relations to her employees (as well as other assorted skills that she’s not so strong at!).
